SUMMARY:Wales Cancer Research Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Wales Cancer Research Conference is an opportunity for cancer researchers in Wales to convene across specialties\, institutions and research areas. With speakers from Wales and the UK\, presentations will cover the latest advances in cancer research\, and opportunities to connect with colleagues will help to stimulate future partnerships. \nAt each of the annual WCRC Wales Cancer Research Conferences\, we accept abstracts showcasing the breadth of research taking place across Wales. We have received an incredible volume of abstract submissions which highlight the diverse and comprehensive range of research being undertaken in the nation. Each abstract is submitted in alignment with one of the CReSt themes:\nTheme 1: Precision and mechanistic oncology\nTheme 2: Immuno-oncology\nTheme 3: Radiotherapy\nTheme 4: Cancer clinical trials\nTheme 5: Palliative and supportive oncology\nTheme 6: Prevention\, early detection\, primary care and health services research \nFrom 2025 onwards\, following a review process undertaken by our academic theme leads and members of the Early- and Mid- Career Network\, one abstract per theme was chosen to present an oral abstract presentation at the conference – these are listed first under the heading ‘lighting talk abstracts’\, below them are all of the other abstracts which were brought as posters to the conference\, split by CReSt theme. \nSee examples from previous years by visiting their website.

SUMMARY:Scaling CAR-T Therapies: Clinical Delivery\, Workforce and System Readiness
DESCRIPTION:How do we scale CAR-T? Exploring clinical delivery\, workforce skills and system readiness. FREE to attend. \nCAR-T cell therapies have delivered transformative outcomes for cancer patients who have exhausted other treatment options\, and are increasingly being explored across a wider range of indications. However\, expanding patient access remains challenging. The complexity and cost of CAR-T manufacturing\, spanning both clinical and manufacturing settings\, introduces significant clinical\, operational\, workforce and system-level barriers to delivering these therapies at scale. \nThis FAST-CAR-T consortium workshop brings together experts from healthcare\, industry\, academia and policy to examine these challenges\, with a particular focus on healthcare readiness\, workforce skills and capacity\, systems interoperability\, and the wider enablers required to support effective delivery. \nBuilding on the first FAST-CAR-T workshop\, which explored digital and regulatory innovation in CAR-T manufacturing\, this event shifts the focus to the clinical setting. It will consider what is required across healthcare systems\, and at the interface between clinical care and manufacturing\, to enable faster\, more agile production of ATMPs and to widen patient access. \nKey areas of focus will include: \n\nClinical challenges in scaling CAR-T and other ATMP manufacturing\nWorkforce skills\, training and capacity needed to support current and future CAR-T and ATMP delivery\nManaging complexity at a systems level\, including the clinical–manufacturing interface\nKey clinical\, operational and digital enablers of adoption and scale-up\nPriority areas for investment to advance CAR-T and ATMP delivery and widen patient access\n\nThrough discussion and stakeholder insight\, this workshop series aims to develop key recommendations for addressing the clinical\, manufacturing\, and system-level challenges of delivering CAR-T and other ATMPs at scale. Published outputs will help inform future investment decisions and provide strategic insight for policy makers\, regulators\, funders\, and healthcare and industry leaders. \nWho should attend:\nThis workshop is aimed at professionals involved in\, or supporting\, the delivery of CAR-T and ATMPs\, including: \n\nHealthcare professionals and system leaders\nIndustry and technology partners\nAcademic researchers\nPolicymakers and regulatory stakeholders\n\nClick this link to book your place
